Dog Age Calculator UK
Our free dog age calculator accurately converts your dog's age into human years using size- and breed-adjusted multipliers. This method is far more accurate than the outdated 'multiply by 7' rule and is based on current canine science.
Equivalent Human Age
Fun Fact
The "7 human years for every dog year" rule is actually a myth! Smaller dogs generally live longer and age more slowly than larger breeds.
How Dog Age Is Converted to Human Years
This calculator uses the size-adjusted conversion method recommended by veterinary researchers. Unlike the inaccurate 'multiply by 7' rule, dogs age much faster in their early years and more slowly later. Small dogs (under 20 lbs) age 15 years in Year 1, 9 in Year 2, and 4–5 per year thereafter. Medium dogs age slightly faster, and large dogs (over 50 lbs) age faster still. Input your dog's age in years and approximate size. Output: equivalent human age.
